Wing Nuts

151 products

Wing nuts have two projecting wings that let you tighten and loosen them by hand, without tools. They're ideal for assemblies adjusted or removed frequently — covers, guards, battery terminals, and fixtures. We stock wing nuts in steel, brass, and stainless across cold-forged and stamped styles.

How Wing Nuts Work

The two wings give fingers leverage to apply moderate clamping force by hand. They trade ultimate torque for convenience — perfect where a joint is opened often and high clamp load isn't required. No wrench, no socket, no dropped tools.

Cold-Forged vs. Stamped

Cold-forged wing nuts are solid and stronger, for higher hand-torque and repeated use. Stamped wing nuts are formed from sheet metal — lighter and economical for light-duty work. Choose forged for durability, stamped for cost on low-stress applications.

Materials and Finishes

Steel with zinc plating: the economical standard. Brass: corrosion-resistant, conductive, decorative — common on electrical and visible applications. 18-8 stainless: corrosion resistance for outdoor and wet environments.

Dimensional Standards

Wing nuts follow DIN 315 (metric) and ASME/military wing nut standards, sized by thread.

Selecting the Right Wing Nut

Match thread size and pitch to the bolt, and material to the environment. Choose cold-forged for strength and frequent use, stamped for light-duty economy. Where higher clamp force is needed, a wing nut sets position and a tool-tightened nut provides the load. Verify wing clearance through the full turn.

Use the filters to narrow by size, style, and material.
