Hex Keys / Allen Wrenches

250 products

Hex keys, also called Allen wrenches, drive the internal hex sockets of socket cap screws, set screws, and other hex-drive fasteners. A simple, durable tool, they come in several styles for different access and torque needs. We stock hex keys in inch and metric across L-key, T-handle, folding, and ball-end styles.

Styles

L-key: the classic hex key — a long arm for reach and a short arm for high torque. Ball-end: rounded tip that engages at an angle (up to ~25°) for hard-to-reach screws, at some torque cost. T-handle: a crossbar for higher torque and faster spinning. Folding set: multiple sizes in one pocketable tool.

Inch vs. Metric

Hex keys come in inch (fractional) and metric sizes — and they are not interchangeable. Using a close-but-wrong size rounds out the socket. Match the key to the screw's drive system; stock both inch and metric sets if you service mixed hardware.

Materials

Alloy/chrome-vanadium steel: hardened for durability and high torque. Chrome or black oxide finish for corrosion resistance. Quality steel matters — soft keys twist and round out under load.

Selecting the Right Hex Key

Match the size exactly to the screw socket (inch or metric). Choose L-keys for general use, ball-end for awkward angles, T-handle for high torque and speed, folding sets for portability. Use the long arm for reach, the short arm for breaking loose tight screws. Replace any key showing rounding to avoid damaging fasteners.
