Weld Screws

71 products

Weld screws are threaded studs with a flange or projections designed to be welded onto sheet metal, leaving an exposed threaded shank for assembly. They provide a strong, permanent fastening point with a clean back side and no loose hardware. Common in automotive, appliance, and sheet-metal fabrication, we stock weld screws in steel and stainless.

How Weld Screws Work

The screw's head (a flange with weld projections or a flat weldable base) is resistance- or arc-welded to the workpiece, fixing the threaded shank in place. The projecting thread then accepts a nut or component. Because the stud is welded and aligned, assembly is fast and the threads never fall away or misalign — ideal for enclosed or high-volume work.

Projection vs. Other Styles

Projection weld screws have small bumps under the head that concentrate welding current for a fast, strong resistance weld — the high-volume production standard. Tab and flanged styles suit other welding methods. Choose by your equipment and production volume.

Materials

Low carbon steel: weldable and economical, the standard. Stainless: for stainless assemblies and corrosion resistance. The screw and base metal must be weld-compatible.

Selecting the Right Weld Screw

Match the thread to your nut or component, the length to the assembly, and the weld style to your process (projection for resistance welding and volume). Use compatible base and stud materials, ensure clean bare metal at the weld, and set the correct welding parameters for a strong, repeatable joint.

Use the filters to narrow by size, length, weld style, and material.
