Spring Pins Coiled

196 products

Coiled spring pins are made from a strip of spring steel wrapped into a spiral, creating a self-retaining pin that flexes to grip a drilled hole. The coiled construction distributes stress evenly and absorbs shock better than slotted pins, making them ideal for cyclic-load and vibration applications. We stock coiled spring pins in spring steel and stainless.

Coiled vs. Slotted Spring Pins

Both grip by spring force, but the coiled pin's wrapped construction spreads stress around its full circumference, eliminating the stress concentration at a slotted pin's gap. This gives coiled pins better fatigue life under repeated loading and shock, and a more uniform, forgiving fit. Slotted (roll) pins are economical for static applications; coiled pins excel under dynamic loads.

Duty Levels

Coiled spring pins come in light, standard, and heavy duty — the same hole size accepts different strengths by changing the material thickness and number of coils. This lets you tune strength to the application without changing the hole, a useful design flexibility.

Materials

Spring steel (high carbon): the standard, heat-treated for spring force. 18-8 and 420 stainless: corrosion resistance, with 420 retaining higher spring strength.

Dimensional Standards

Coiled spring pins conform to ISO 8748 / DIN 1473 (heavy), ISO 8750 (standard), and ISO 8751 (light).

Selecting the Right Coiled Spring Pin

Drill the recommended hole size for the pin diameter. Choose the duty level for your load — light for delicate parts, heavy for high shear. Select coiled over slotted for shock, vibration, and cyclic loads. Pick stainless for corrosion. Size length to fully engage both parts.

Use the filters to narrow by diameter, length, duty, and material.
