Machine Screws

Machine screws are precision-threaded fasteners used with nuts or tapped holes to join metal, plastic, and electronic components. Smaller and more finely threaded than cap screws, they are the standard choice for instrument panels, enclosures, brackets, and assemblies where a clean, uniform-diameter fastener is needed. We stock machine screws in every common head style, drive type, material, and size.

Head Styles

Pan head: the most common—rounded with a flat bearing surface, for general use. Flat head (countersunk): sits flush in a countersunk hole. Oval head: countersunk with a decorative raised top. Round head: a domed profile for traditional applications. Truss head: extra-wide and low for thin or slotted materials. Fillister and cheese heads: tall cylindrical heads for counterbored holes.

Drive Types

Available in Phillips, slotted, combination (Phillips/slotted), and six-lobe (Torx) drives. Torx resists cam-out and supports higher installation torque, making it the preferred choice for powered assembly.

Materials and Finishes

Steel with zinc plating for economy and indoor corrosion resistance. 18-8 (304) stainless for general corrosion resistance. 316 stainless for marine and chemical environments. Brass for electrical conductivity, decorative use, and non-magnetic requirements. Black oxide and bright finishes are also stocked.

Dimensional Standards

Inch machine screws conform to ASME B18.6.3, sized by gauge number (#0 through #12) and then fractional inches, with threads per inch in coarse (UNC) and fine (UNF). Metric machine screws follow DIN 7985 / ISO 7045 (pan Phillips), DIN 965 / ISO 7046 (flat Phillips), DIN 84 / ISO 1207 (cheese slotted), and ISO 14581 (Torx countersunk).

Selecting the Right Machine Screw

Confirm the thread size and pitch match the tapped hole or nut. Choose head style by your countersink and clearance requirements—flat head for flush mounting, pan head for general fastening. Select drive type for your tooling, favoring Phillips or Torx for powered installation. For length, account for material thickness plus full thread engagement (at least equal to the screw diameter in steel, 1.5× in aluminum).

Use the filters to narrow by size, length, head style, drive, material, and finish.
