Deck & Construction Screws

Deck and construction screws are designed for exterior wood framing and decking, with corrosion-resistant coatings or stainless construction that withstand weather and treated lumber. Their aggressive thread, sharp point, and bugle head drive fast and seat flush. We stock deck and construction screws in coated steel and stainless across all common lengths.

Built for the Outdoors

Unlike interior drywall or wood screws, deck screws use weather-resistant coatings (ceramic, polymer, or epoxy) or stainless steel to survive moisture and the corrosive chemicals in pressure-treated lumber. Ordinary zinc-plated screws corrode quickly in ACQ-treated wood — deck screws are formulated to resist it.

ACQ-Treated Lumber

Modern pressure-treated lumber (ACQ, CA) is highly corrosive to fasteners. Use only coated deck screws rated for treated lumber, or 316 stainless for the longest life — especially near coastal or wet environments. This is the single most important selection factor for deck construction.

Drive and Head

Star (6-lobe) and square drives resist cam-out under the high torque of driving into hardwood and dense treated lumber. The bugle head self-countersinks in softwood without splitting, seating flush for a clean deck surface.

Selecting the Right Deck Screw

For treated lumber, use coated deck screws rated for ACQ or 316 stainless — never plain zinc. Size length to penetrate the framing by at least 1" (typically 2-1/2" to 3" for decking). Choose star or square drive for powered installation. For coastal or submerged use, 316 stainless is the durable choice.

Use the filters to narrow by length, material, coating, and drive.
