What is the difference between USS and SAE flat washers?
USS (Type B) flat washers have larger outside diameters and are thicker than SAE (Type A) washers of the same bolt size. USS is designed for softer materials and larger load distribution. SAE is used for harder materials and standard fastener installation.
Does Black Oxide finish provide corrosion protection?
Black Oxide provides mild corrosion resistance through a controlled oxidation process. It is dimensionally stable (no plating buildup), will not chip or flake, and is suitable for indoor use. For outdoor or wet environments, additional oil coating or a different finish (zinc, stainless) is recommended.
