What is the difference between partial thread and full thread?
Partial thread (also called shoulder bolt or tap bolt) has an unthreaded shank for shear strength. Full thread (fully threaded cap screw) provides more clamping engagement. Standard cap screws above 6 inches long are typically partial thread.
