Drill Bits (Wood)
0 products
Wood drill bits bore clean, accurate holes in lumber, plywood, and composites. Their geometry — a centering point and sharp cutting spurs — produces splinter-free holes that general bits can't match in wood. We stock wood bits in brad point, spade, and Forstner styles across the common size range.
Bit Types
Brad point: a sharp center spur and side spurs score the wood for clean, precise holes — the choice for accurate dowel and furniture work. Spade (paddle): a flat blade for fast, rough holes in framing and where finish doesn't matter. Forstner: cuts flat-bottomed holes and overlapping holes cleanly, for hinges, pocket holes, and fine joinery. Choose by the hole quality and shape you need.
Why Wood-Specific Bits
The centering point prevents wandering, and the cutting spurs sever wood fibers at the hole's edge before the bit removes the waste — eliminating the tear-out and splintering a twist bit causes in wood. For accurate, clean joinery, wood bits are well worth it.
Selecting the Right Wood Bit
Choose brad point for precise clean holes, spade for fast rough holes, Forstner for flat-bottomed or overlapping holes and fine work. Match the diameter to your need, run an appropriate speed (slower for large Forstner bits), and back the workpiece or reduce pressure at breakthrough to avoid tear-out on the exit side.
