Abrasives

Abrasives cut, grind, and finish metal and masonry with angle grinders and power tools. Choosing the right wheel type, abrasive material, and grit for the job — and the correct arbor size for your tool — makes work faster and safer. We stock cut-off wheels, grinding wheels, and flap discs for common grinder sizes.
Abrasive Types
Cut-off wheels: thin wheels for slicing through metal, rod, and bolts. Grinding wheels: thick wheels for heavy stock removal, weld grinding, and edge work. Flap discs: overlapping abrasive flaps that grind and blend in one step, leaving a smoother finish than a grinding wheel — popular for weld blending and surface prep.
Abrasive Material and Grit
Aluminum oxide: general-purpose, economical, for steel. Zirconia alumina: tougher and longer-lasting on steel and stainless. Ceramic: fastest cutting and longest life on hard metals. Lower grit numbers (24-40) remove material fast; higher grits (60-120) finish smoother. Match material and grit to the metal and the result you need.
Safety and Fit
Match the wheel's arbor size and diameter to your grinder, and never exceed the wheel's rated maximum RPM. Use the correct wheel for the material (don't use a metal wheel on masonry), inspect for cracks before mounting, and always use the guard. Abrasive safety is non-negotiable.
Selecting the Right Abrasive
Choose cut-off wheels for cutting, grinding wheels for heavy removal, flap discs for blending and finishing. Match abrasive (aluminum oxide for steel, zirconia/ceramic for stainless and hard metal) and grit to the job. Confirm arbor size and RPM rating fit your tool, and prioritize safe handling.
Use the filters to narrow by type, diameter, grit, and arbor size. Orders before 12 PM ET ship same day.
